St. Joseph’s Hospital Creates Holiday Wonderland as it Celebrates Two Decades of Helping Families in Need
20th Annual Mission Basket event helps 50-60 local families of patients hospitalized in 2013
Tampa, Fla. (December 12, 2013) - A New York City skyline and snowmen lounging in the sand are typical sights during St. Joseph’s Hospital annual Mission Basket event. What started out as a way to give back to the community by filling baskets with non-perishable food, gift certificates, toys, etc. has grown into a festive holiday competition to see which hospital department can create the most original display.
Representatives from the Tampa Bay Times Forum, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and local news personalities judge the mission basket displays. The top three displays in the small and large category receive ribbons and bragging rights. More than 1,000 families have received mission baskets from St. Joseph’s Hospital since 1993.
