Special events offer an opportunity to support the Foundation by participating in unique and enjoyable fundraisers. Each of the Foundation events is held annually. Diamonds & Denim Gala
Put on your dressy denim and join guests at the popular Diamonds & Denim Gala, held the fourth Thursday evening in September at the Strawberry Festival Expo Hall. Each year more than 500 people attend this benefit for South Florida Baptist Hospital. Since its inception in 1997, Diamonds & Denim has raised more than $900,000 for the hospital.
Guests enjoy live music, dancing, open seating and a catered dinner with six food stations. There is also a chance to win a diamond ring donated by area jewelers and to participate in a 50/50 raffle and silent auction. Tickets are $50 per person with advance reservations required. Donations for the silent auction are welcomed. A committee of community volunteers plans and coordinates this premier event.
Lights of Love
The annual tree lighting ceremony at downtown McCall Park in Plant City marks the start of the holiday season. A 30+ foot live tree is adorned with lights "purchased" by individuals, families and businesses in honor or memory of friends and loved ones. Proceeds benefit the community outreach programs of South Florida Baptist Hospital. The Foundation and the City of Plant City co-sponsor this traditional family event that is open to the community and free of charge. (No tickets are required). Enjoy holiday music by local choirs and photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Lights begin at $25 each and must be purchased in advance to be listed in the printed program. The event is usually held the first Thursday evening in December, depending on the date of the annual Plant City Christmas Parade.
ROMP in the SWAMP
Fun for the entire family - a 5K and 10K obstacle run. Overcome obstacles, test your running and physical abilities and enjoy the fun! Romp in the Swamp is a family event held in mid October at the Lower Green Swamp Preserve (formally Cone Ranch) in Hillsborough County. You may register for the event by going to www.rompintheswamp.org. Proceeds benefit the Hospital’s area of greatest need.
