Charitable donations to the SFBH Foundation offer a tax
benefit while helping the hospital upgrade programs, acquire new medical
technology and continue community outreach. Here are some unique giving
opportunities. For more information, call the Foundation office at 813-757-8478.

Area of Greatest Need
An unrestricted
gift means that your donation will contribute directly to the hospital program
that has the greatest need. Each year, the Foundation board of directors
in partnership with the hospital determines where these funds will make the
biggest difference.
Tribute Giving
A donation to a
charitable organization is the perfect way to honor friends or family members.
It can be in celebration of a birthday, anniversary or special occasion, or a
memorial tribute in recognition of someone's life. A contribution of this
type is a wonderful opportunity to publicly acknowledge and appreciate someone,
while supporting important hospital programs.
Personalized Pavers
Custom engraved pavers are a
lasting, visible tribute that can serve as a legacy for future
generations. At SFBH, hundreds of individuals, families and businesses are
part of the hospital's history thanks to their donation of commemorative pavers
for the Surgery Center walkway. Orders are accepted year round and installation
takes place each fall. The pavers can be engraved with a name or
message. Two sizes are available ($75 and $150).
National Doctor's Day
SFBH has many
extraordinary doctors whose compassion, knowledge and commitment make a
difference. The annual celebration of Doctor's Day in March offers an
opportunity to formally express your gratitude. Why not recognize an
exceptional doctor with a donation to the hospital in his or her name.
Then during the Doctor's Day breakfast/luncheon, the doctor will receive a
special card from the Foundation listing each donor's name. Personal notes
of appreciation are also encouraged.
Team Member
Campaign
No one understands better than SFBH team members how
important philanthropy is to the hospital. Each summer, team members are
asked to contribute to the Foundation during the annual SFBH Team Member
Campaign. In the last decade, team members have contributed more than
$375,000. Donations are made by cash, credit card, payroll deduction and paid
time off (PTO) hours. A volunteer campaign committee includes representatives
from every hospital department.
End-of-the Year Giving
A gift during
the holiday season brings end-of-the-year tax benefits for the donor and touches
the lives of many current and future hospital patients. Your generosity allows
the Foundation to provide vital financial support to the hospital. As you
write your holiday list each year, we hope you will remember the hospital's
mission to ensure that life-saving care is available at any time day or night,
right here in the Greater Plant City community.
Capital Campaigns
Hospitals must keep up with the
demand for upgraded services and more modern facilities, especially as the
community around them changes and grows. Often, a capital campaign is
required to raise funds for important projects. At SFBH, generous
contributions helped make the Jim and Ruby Jean Redman Emergency Center and the
Pete Beaty Surgery Center a reality. Advance leadership gifts for both
projects paved the way for a volunteer capital campaign committee to secure many
gifts from local businesses and the community.
Keystone Circle
Certain levels of
philanthropy warrant more visible recognition. Members of the prestigious
Rowena Mays - M.E. Moody Keystone Circle receive several benefits: their
name inscribed on a plaque in the hospital lobby, an invitation to a
complimentary event in their honor and a special gift to commemorate their
membership in the group. Membership is open to anyone who has contributed $1,000
or more to the hospital in the preceding calendar year, either through a single
or multiple donations.
Wall of
Honor
The Wall of Honor, located in the hospital lobby,
recognizes donors who have reached yet another level of giving. These
individuals have demonstrated an exceptional long-time commitment to
philanthropy by contributing $2,500 or more since 1995, the year the Foundation
was established. Their names are permanently listed on the Wall of Honor
as a tribute to their generosity.
Ladies Night Out Series
Ladies
Night Out gives women a chance to network, while learning valuable tips on
everything from stress management to heart disease. Come to the hospital
for an informative and upbeat evening that includes a light dinner, a drawing
for door prizes and a guest speaker(s) on women's health. The popular
program is sponsored by the Foundation and the hospital. It is free, but
advance reservations are necessary because seating is limited. The event
is held five times a year.
Patient Appreciation Program
When you
or a loved one receives exceptional care, the best way to express your gratitude
is through our Patient Appreciation Program. Patients, family
members and friends can make a financial contribution to the hospital as a way
of saying thank you. Charitable gifts ensure that SFBH continues to
provide the kind of care the Greater Plant City community deserves.
Educational Scholarships
SFBH Foundation-sponsored scholarships allow
hospital team members and area students to further their
education in nursing and allied health careers. The scholarships are given
to deserving students in affiliation with the Hillsborough Education Foundation,
Hillsborough Community College Foundation, St. Joseph's Hospitals and
South Florida Baptist Hospital. Financial support is offered for
tuition, books and other education-related expenses. Three different
scholarships are offered:
- A $1,000 scholarship per term for qualified Hillsborough Community College nursing students who agree to work as an RN at SFBH for one year following graduation from nursing school.
- Two $1,000 scholarships for Greater Plant City area high school seniors who pursue a degree in health care. The scholarships are renewable for three additional years as long as the student continues to major in a health care-related field and maintains a C average.
- A $5,000 St. Joseph's Hospitals and South Florida Baptist Hospital nursing scholarship for qualified team members who have worked at the hospital for a minimum of one-year. The scholarship is renewable for one additional year.
