Saving Lives
The hallmark of a premier cancer treatment program is the
ability to achieve successful outcomes. The five-year survival rates for the St. Joseph's program compare favorably with those of the world-renowned National Cancer Institute, especially for cancers of the prostate, lung, colorectal and breast.
Community Services/Cancer HelpLine
St. Joseph's Cancer Institute takes an active role in educating the community and in providing free or low-cost screenings for skin, prostate, breast and colorectal cancer.
Cancer HelpLine is staffed by an experienced, oncology certified nurse and provides free, confidential cancer-related information over the phone. Referrals to appropriate physicians, hospitals services and community resources are made as needed.
Support Services
St. Joseph's offers support classes as well as other programs such as the American Cancer Society's "Man to Man" prostate cancer support group and "Look Good...Feel Better," a workshop for women with cancer. Our Resource Library includes videos, books, tapes, online access and other materials for patient education, emotional support and general enjoyment.
Cancer Registry
Through our comprehensive Cancer Registry, data specialists collect, manage and analyze local and national information on individuals diagnosed with cancer. The database we have compiled is a powerful tool to aid in education, research and lifetime patient follow up.
