Sarah Gaskill, MD
A graduate of the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio, Dr. Gaskill completed a surgical internship and neurological surgery residency at Duke University Medical Center. Her pediatric neurological surgery fellowship was completed in San Antonio, Texas, where she practiced for the past decade and founded the Spina Bifida Association of South Texas. In 2005, the organization established a scholarship in honor of her dedicated efforts as founder and president.
Dr. Gaskill has served as Publications Committee Chair of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (Pediatric Section), Member at Large for the Pediatric Section of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and as an editor of the journal Neurosurgical Focus. She has published over 50 publications in the medical literature and is the co-author of the Handbook of Pediatric Neurology and Neurosurgery. Dr. Gaskill is board certified in Neurological Surgery and Pediatric Neurological Surgery and was included in America's Top Surgeons 2006. She is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Society of Pediatric Neurosurgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the American Association of Neurosurgery. She is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at The University of South Florida.
