Nearly 600 people turned out to support the heart programs of St. Joseph-s Hospitals at the 14th Annual Stepping Out Gala March 24, 2007. Held at the Hyatt Regency in Downtown Tampa, the elegant event was chaired by Dr. Geneva Damron and was reminiscent of Truman Capote-s original Black & White Ball, with guests dressed in either black or white to compliment the decor.

More than $275,000 was raised through sponsorships and live and silent auctions, and will go toward heart programs at St. Joseph-s three hospitals.In addition, the "Caring for Kids" raffle raised $30,000 for St. Joseph-s Children-s Hospital specifically. 

Presenting Sponsor, Steve Buckley of Rooms To Go, pulled the winning $20,000 ticket of Dan and Lisa Almendarez and nine other tickets totaling prizes of $35,000. Master of Ceremonies, Dick Crippen, and Foundation Chairman Elaine Shimberg announced the honorees of the year: Community Benefactor, Richard Gonzmart, who was born at St. Joseph-s Hospital 54 years ago; Distinguished Volunteer, Trevor Smith; and three Physicians of Service, Drs. Carlos Tosca, Clifford Levitt and Davis Boling.
