What Examination Methods Are Available?
Heart Scan
A heart scan or calcium scoring is a screening of the arteries of the heart. A high (positive) calcium score is a good indicator of your risk for certain types of heart attacks. This test, which takes about 15 seconds to perform, can be done without a physician order (self referred).
CT Angiography of the Coronary Arteries
This is a detailed study of the arteries that supply blood to your heart muscle. This is done by injection of a small amount of dye (contrast medium) into a vein in your arm. The heart is then scanned. This test takes only about 20 seconds to perform.
In addition to heart imaging, 64-Slice CT technology is valuable in multiple clinical applications:
- Oncology
- Pulmonology
- Neurology
- Orthopedics
- Nephrology
- Urology
- Ear, Nose and Throat
