Comprehensive Chemotherapy Services
The Cancer Institute's ambulatory infusion center and 30-bed adult oncology unit provide specialized care and symptom management to patients with all types of cancer. The Cancer Institute's skilled nurses are certified in chemotherapy administration, and dedicated on-site pharmacists and nutritional therapists are available for one-on-one consultations with patients.
Members of the Cancer Institute's interdisciplinary team meet twice weekly to coordinate all services required for the oncology patient. This comprehensive team pairs physicians, pharmacists and nurses with chaplains, social workers, physical therapists, speech therapists and enterostomal therapists. The team also coordinates care with home health agencies and Hospice services, and refers patients and their families to local support and educational groups. One-on-one consultation with team members is available.

Robotics Surgery
Robotic technology is the future of cancer surgery, and St. Joseph's is the first hospital in Florida to use a new robotic surgical system.
The da Vinci™ Surgical System allows surgeons to operate through minute incisions in the human body. Equipped with microscopic surgical tools, the robotic hands are controlled by a surgeon and provide precise dissecting and suturing. The high-tech system provides revolutionary benefits, including:
- Quicker recovery
- Less pain, bleeding and risk of infection
- Shorter hospital stay
- Reduced scarring
- Less anesthesia and associated side effects
Ambulatory Infusion Center
The Cancer Institute’s Ambulatory Infusion Center is open seven days a week for patients who don't need to remain overnight in the hospital. Services provided in this center include chemotherapy, transfusion service, port or catheter care, supportive injections and intravenous hydration or antibiotics.
