Comprehensive Rehabilitation
St. Joseph's offers a comprehensive Rehabilitation Program to help individuals regain independence and mobility after illness or injury.

A highly skilled and experienced rehabilitation team includes many different health care professionals, each specializing in specific skills that help people achieve their maximum level of ability in order to return to a satisfactory quality of life.

The Rehabilitation team includes:

Rehabilitation Services to Meet Individual Needs
Not every patient requires the same type of therapy or level of service. A wide scope of services is offered through the Rehabilitation program, from acute inpatient care in the hospital to outpatient rehabilitation therapy several days a week. A post-rehabilitation program is also available through the St. Joseph's Outpatient Rehabilitation Center. 

In addition, individuals who are recovering at home can receive rehabilitation services through the hospital's Home Health Care Program. St. Joseph's also provides rehab therapy to patients in the skilled nursing unit and at John Knox Village.

Innovative Programs In/Outpatient
St. Joseph's offers a number of innovative rehabilitation programs to meet patient's specific needs. These programs include:

  • Manual Therapy - Certified Manual Therapists that specialize in evaluation and treatment of soft tissue and joint dysfunction.
  • Urinary Incontinence - Dynamic approach for treatment of urinary incontinence using biofeedback and a specialized exercise program.
  • Vestibular & Balance - Therapeutic evaluations and exercises help people regain their mobility and avoid falls.
  • Worksite Evaluation - A rehab team will conduct a professional audit of the worksite to help people return to their job after disability or injury.
  • Sports Medicine - Skilled sports medicine specialists can help both professional athletes and non-professional sports enthusiasts recover faster from injuries related to recreational activities such as tennis, running and skiing.
  • Hand therapy - Experienced therapists can help people increase use of their hands and reduce pain after surgery or illnesses such as arthritis.
  • Lymphedema - Specialized therapists assist in the recovery of the affects of cancer and other conditions that may cause lymphedema.
  • Laryngectomy rehabilitation - Voice rehabilitation for people who have had a laryngectomy.
  • Biofeedback - Specialized treatment techniques for people with swallowing disorders.
  • FEES - Endoscopic evaluation of swallowing function.
  • Pregnancy and postpartum - Evaluations and recommendations for women experiencing discomfort.
