Magnetic Resonance Imaging

MRI exams take approximately one hour, during which time, patients are required to remain extremely still. Advances in MRI technology and design are continually improving the MRI experience for even those patients that are least comfortable with the procedures.

Open MRI

  • Contrasted brain and spinal exams
  • Designed for patients who are claustrophobic, with a larger
opening than traditional MRIs and more open lines
  • Helpful for larger patients
  • Scan time is 45 to 90 minutes

High Field MRI

  • High Field Tesla 1.5 MRI
  • Contrasted brain and spinal exams
  • MRAs of brain and carotids
  • Higher resolution for easier to read scans
  • Increased magnetic field strength for faster scans (approximately 30 to 45 minutes)
  • Shorter, wider tube, flared design and improved lighting and ventilation for a more open, less claustrophobic, feel
