Pediatric Neurosurgeon

Dr. Gerald Tuite was the first pediatric neurosurgeon certified by the American Society of Pediatric Neurosurgeons to practice in the Tampa Bay area.  Prior to his arrival in 1996, he completed his neurosurgical residency training at the University of Michigan and followed with a pediatric neurosurgical fellowship at The Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, England, where he focused on the surgical treatment of children with craniofacial disorders, brain tumors and spinal abnormalities.  He spent an additional year of specialized training at Texas Children's Hospital at Baylor College of Medicine where he treated all types of pediatric neurosurgical disorders, with a special emphasis on surgery for brachial plexus injuries.

Dr. Tuite is a board certified neurosurgeon and is an active member of all of the major neurosurgical organizations including the American Board of Neurological Surgery.  He is a full-time faculty member at the University of South Florida where he is a dedicated clinician and teacher.  He has a special interest in craniofacial disorders, and he has published articles on the surgical treatment of craniosynostosis.  He has performed many craniofacial procedures for patients in Florida and Southeastern United States.  He offers open or endoscopically-assisted minimally invasive surgery for children with craniosynostosis when indicated.
