What does Safe Kids Tampa do for the Tampa Bay community?

Our coalition provides leadership to the Tampa Bay Community in the effort to reduce unintentional childhood injury. We identify and target the injury problems most prevalent in our local areas by analyzing St. Joseph's Children's Hospital of Tampa's Injury Data. Then, by calling on the combined resources of our diverse membership, we plan and implement strategies to address those problems by:

  • Calling attention to the problem through media and public awareness activities
  • Advocating for engineering improvements and enhanced safety legislation and enforcement
  • Providing educational programs for children and families
  • Distributing lifesaving safety devices, such as car seats, smoke detectors, bike helmets, and door alarms to families in need
  • Keeping families updated on the most current children's product recalls.
