Leah Frohnerath, BS, CCLS
Child Life Supervisor

Leah Frohnerath received her degree in Family and Child Sciences from Florida State University in May of 1998 and completed her Child Life Internship at St. Louis Children's Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.  Leah began her career as a Child Life Assistant at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital of Tampa in December of 1998.  She received certification in May of 1999 and has worked with various populations throughout the hospital since then.

Over the past 10 years of working at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital, Leah has been able to impact many families through her work as a Child Life Specialist.  Most notably, she introduced the role of a Child Life Specialist to the Steinbrenner Emergency/Trauma Center for Children at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital.  Leah remained in the Emergency Department for 5 years growing both professionally and personally.  Her experiences in the Emergency Department placed her alongside Dr. Laleh Posey and Stephanie Pitts, RN.  Together they saw a need for addressing pain in the pediatric patients and the "Pain Free Initiative" was developed.  The Pain Free Committee is always researching new ways to make procedures and medical care of children at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital as painless as possible. The Committee also works to make policy changes and culture changes across the health care continuum.

Leah has a lot of passion for the profession of Child Life as well as a great love of learning. She is grateful that her position of Child Life Supervisor allows her to share these passions with a team of truly skilled Child Life Specialists on a daily basis.
