15th Annual Stepping Out Gala

A sell-out crowd of more than 700 people were dancing in the aisles to the Motown sounds of The Temptations at Heart & Soul, the 15th Annual St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation's Stepping Out Gala. Chaired by retired St. Joseph's cardiac surgeon and Foundation board member Dennis Pupello and his wife Lisa, the event is expected to raise approximately $250,000 for the hospital's heart programs.

The lively event, held at the Hyatt Regency, Downtown Tampa, included dinner, dancing and live entertainment from The Temptations Review featuring Dennis Edwards.

This year's presenting sponsor was Rooms To Go Children's Fund, Entertainment sponsor was Clark Construction and Foundation board member Donna (and Sid) Jordan, and the Master of Ceremonies was Dick Crippen.

Dr. Pupello and St. Joseph's Hospitals Foundation Chairman Elaine Shimberg presented three Distinguished Physicians awards to Lazaro Hernandez, M.D., St. Joseph's Hospital; George Haedicke, M.D., St. Joseph's Women's Hospital; and Cameron Tebbi, M.D., St. Joseph's Children's Hospital, and the Distinguished Volunteer award to the St. Joseph?s Hospital Auxiliary in recognition of its 50th anniversary.

Since its inception in 1994, the Gala has raised more than $2 million for a wide range of projects, including the construction of St. Joseph's Children's Hospital and a pediatric cardiac catheterization lab.
